Dear Parents,

We had a busy week! We completed our Fall NWEA testing this week. All students from 2nd through 6th grade have tested in reading and math. Should you have any questions concerning the testing, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher or any of us in the office. The classrooms have been abuzz with learning. Students and staff are working hard and the school is running on all cylinders.

Next week the fourth grade team will be having their Colonial presentations on Tuesday, November 25th. There will be two different times for the presentations: 11:00 and 1:00. Based on all the work that has been happening in the classrooms, this should be an event not to be missed. It is clear that the students have been putting some tremendous effort into their projects.

We wanted to remind everyone that next week is a short week for students. We will be in school Monday and Tuesday. Students will be on Thanksgiving break from Wednesday, November 26th through Friday, November 28th. We wish all students and their families a restful and joy-filled Thanksgiving holiday. It is certainly a great time to get together and simply be amongst friends and family.

Your child’s first report card will be coming home on Friday, December 5th. Please remember to sign and return the envelope so we know you have seen the report card. This will be our first report card that has been created using Infinite Campus. This is a much more streamlined process and allows the teacher to use one program as opposed to multiple programs to create your child’s report card. Previously, the teacher needed the office to conduct much of the legwork and there were many hands doing the work. Now there are fewer hands and it is a much more efficient procedure. Exciting.

We are definitely at the time of year when cold weather gear is a must for outdoor recess. Mrs. Hast has had repeated requests from students for hats, mittens/gloves, and jackets. We would request that you ensure your child is dressed for the weather and please remember it is a bit colder here on the hill. If you need assistance with winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Hast so she can arrange that for you.

We would also like to remind you that the heat is on in the building and the air is very dry. Please feel free to send your child in with a reuseable water bottle or bottled water to ensure for proper hydration as well as layered clothing for comfort.

Looking ahead, there will not be an email home next week due to it being such a short week. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher or the office.

Sincerely,

Owen Harrington, Principal

Melissa Romein, Special Education Coordinator

Ginny Hast, School Nurse

Deanna Brown, Administrative Assistant

Kathy McKernan, Administrative Assistant
