Dear Parents,

It has certainly been quite the soggy week. We were able to get outside today, though, and really enjoy the spring weather. It was gorgeous! The first week back from April break is generally a busy week, but this week has been even more so with the start of SBAC testing. I hope the 4th and 5th grade students were able to handle the first week of testing with limited stress and have felt confident with their performance. We did run into a couple of snags with students flagging questions they want to go back to, but were unable to do so when they logged back on. Dr. Gage has been working with the state on this and rest assured the sessions are being opened back up to allow for the students to access their questions again. It is certainly quite the process, but we are getting it done and we are expecting strong performances.

Please keep an eye out for a Magazine Drive flier that is coming home today. Our goal with this magazine drive is to fund our Time for Kids subscription for the 2016-2017 school year. This would provide a significant cost savings to DES. Basically if students sell magazine subscriptions or they fill out the postcards included, this will count towards our subscription costs. Feel free to call Shelley in the office at 774-3181, ext 201 if you have any questions about the magazine drive.

Just a reminder that the Dunbarton Arts on the Common is happening this weekend. This is a great opportunity for you to get out over the weekend as a family and partake in the over 50 artisans and the plethora of food and music to be had. The event will take place from 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday. It sounds like it will be a great event!

I wish all the DES mothers (and mothers in general) a fabulous Mother’s Day on Sunday and hope all of you have a nice relaxing weekend.
