Dear Parents,

We wanted to thank the PTO for such a great event on Saturday. The Harvest Moon Supper was a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and have an appetizing meal. The PTO did an excellent job organizing and hosting the event. The food was delicious and we know many staff members enjoyed the opportunity.

Our Veterans Day breakfast and assembly was well attended. At last count we had over 22 veterans in attendance (many of them with their spouses). Our student ambassadors welcomed the guests to the school and they were given the opportunity to come together to have breakfast and simply socialize for a bit. Following the breakfast, we held our traditional Veterans Day assembly in front of the flags. Similar to last year, every student shook the hands of the veterans and thanked them for their service. The veterans were very thankful for the opportunity and we appreciated giving the students the opportunity to learn a little more about their fellow citizens.

The reading portion of the NWEA testing is complete. The students and staff did a great job working through the test and the data we will receive will further guide our teaching and provide a baseline for the NWEA testing in the spring. This will give us another opportunity to see growth and challenge areas for our students. Next week we will do the math portion of our testing.

Today Marvelous Marvin came to DES to present his show Math Blast . All the students had the opportunity to see Marvin’s show and learn more about math. It was certainly entertaining for the students and staff. If you would like to learn more about his shows, feel free to visit his website: .

Just so you are aware, we do have a menu change for November 18th. On this date, we will be having french toast sticks, sausage, cheese stick and mandarin oranges. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Just a reminder that there is no school from November 26th through November 28th in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. The staff will be attending a half day training on November 26th at Bow High School. We will be studying rubric design and use.

As always, we wish you all the best and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or any of us in the office.
